This summer, the streets of London are transformed with magical giant Dream Jars to celebrate Roald Dahl’s 100th birthday and The BFG movie release.
These Dream Jars can only belong to The BFG (Big Friendly Giant). Maybe he mislaid them during his night-time wanderings delivering wonderful dreams to sleeping children – or “chiddlers” as The BFG would say! Follow The BFG Dream Jar Trail and explore this world of dreams for yourself…!
The BFG Dream Jar Trail brings to life the long-held dreams of celebrities and artists with Dream Jars across London and beyond this summer. Each jar contains “splendiferous” sculptures based on dream stories from the likes of Steven Spielberg, Stephen Hawking, the Delevingne sisters and many more.
You can discover The BFG Dream Jars in iconic spots such as Tower Bridge, Trafalgar Square and Buckingham Palace – see 32 Dream Jars from 9 July and a further 18 Dream Jars by 22 July, in time for the release of The BFG in UK cinemas.
The BFG tells the extraordinary tale of a young girl named Sophie and the Big Friendly Giant who introduces her to the wonders and perils of Giant County. Together they embark on a marvellous and buckswashling adventure filled with snozzcumbers, dream jars, frobscottle and even the Queen! The mismatched pair form an unlikely friendship that will inspire enormous bravery in the BFG and give Sophie a taste of the family she dreams of. The film stars three-time Tony Award®, two-time Olivier Award, BAFTA and Oscar® winner Mark Rylance as the Big Friendly Giant; Penelope Wilton as the Queen; Rebecca Hall as Mary, the Queen’s handmaid and introduces newcomer Ruby Barnhill as Sophie. It is released in cinemas on 22nd July.
