Here at Mojomums we are great fans of reading to our children and encouraging them to read for fun for themselves (see Mojomums Kids Book Club), so when we heard of the Summer Reading Challenge being promoted by The Reading Agency charity, we knew it was going to be a campaign that we love!
Children’s reading can ‘dip’ during the long summer holidays, so the Summer Reading Challenge encourages children aged 4 to 11 to read six books during their time off school – just one book per week.
This yearly challenge has a different theme every year and for 2015 it is Record Breakers – introducing your children to the wonders of the Guinness World Records!
Children can read whatever they like, just so long as they are borrowed from a library – every time they finish a book they receive stickers, rewards and a certificate for everyone who finishes the challenge.
So head to your local library and enroll! It’s completely free and more information can be found online at www.summerreadingchallenge.org.uk
