What they say:  In the Black Mountains of Wales wild animals are disappearing. A strange figure is roaming the peaks at night, calling them into the deep caves beneath the mountains. Joe has moved to the area from the city and is trying to get used to his new life with his family. But now, together with his friend Gwen, he must risk his life trying to find the animals and bring them back…

What we say:  “Jack thought that the book was quite different to the books he usually reads (David Walliams, Julia Donaldson, Roald Dahl etc). He found the story was more grown up. He thought it was creative and he enjoyed the descriptive writing. He was quite keen to get to the end to find out what the ending would bring, so he was quite gripped by it.  He said he would read another book by this author.
