What they say: The Groovy Food Company’s highest grade Virgin Coconut Oil is produced with the freshest coconuts, handpicked from certified organic plantations.
Combining traditional methods and innovative technology, The Groovy Food Company cold presses the coconut’s crisp white flesh to squeeze out every drop of delicious oil and retain the fruit’s natural goodness, including its many health and beauty benefits.
Nutrient rich, beautifully fragrant and with a subtle flavour profile, this Virgin Coconut Oil is a versatile lifestyle product with a huge number of usage occasions spanning everything from grooming to gastronomy.
Packed with goodness, the Virgin Coconut Oil contains zero trans-fat and is rich in antioxidants. It also contains around 50% lauric acid, which is a medium chain fatty acid, which has been proven to provide an immediate source of energy, rather than being stored as fat.
A beauty essential, coconut oil is a natural make-up remover and naturally moisturises the hair and skin, leaving complexions glowing by penetrating deep into the epidermis to nourish and hydrate.
Well-known for its healing and antibacterial properties, the high lauric acid content in coconut oil provides anti-viral benefits making it a suitable treatment for chapped lips and occasional scratches, burns and scars.
What we say: “If it’s good enough for Cheryl, then it’s good enough for me! Having seen recent news that while pregnant Cheryl Tweedy used coconut oil to moisturise her body and was thrilled with the results, I could not wait to try this myself…
As any heavily pregnant woman knows, getting in and out of the bath is work enough, then add trying to dry yourself (can’t reach my feet!) and slather on the oils and cream to try to stop stretch marks in their tracks, well, bathing in not the relaxing me-time it used to be!
The Groovy Food Company Virgin Coconut Oil can be used in all manners of ways; from body wash to moisturiser to hair conditioner, I decided to try them all!
My skin has been much more sensitive since pregnant so I followed The Groovy Food Company’s advice for creating a body wash:
Soaps and shower gels can often include synthetic ingredients and fragrances, that are not good for sensitive or eczema prone skin. Create your own baby wash by mixing equal measures of Coconut Oil, organic castile soap and water. Just gently massage the soap over your baby and clean with luke warm water.
This felt soothing to my skin and a little goes a long way (the tub holds a deceiving amount of coconut oil). Now to condition my hair while in the bath…
Pregnancy hormones don’t do wonders for your hair – by running a teaspoon of Coconut Oil through wet locks and leaving it overnight for an intensively nourishing treatment, your hair will be left smooth and repaired.
This I loved! My hair felt silky and smooth after washing and I highly recommend you give it a try. Again, a little goes a long way and I did comb through my hair while the oil was in (you can add more ladies, but you can’t take it away so just a small amount to begin with). Excellent results!
Once rinsed and out of the bath I used the oil as a body/bump moisturiser
Post pregnancy, skin can become sore and irritated – rubbing some Coconut Oil into the area will leave you with smooth and silky skin.
Another must try for anyone with dry or sore skin, perfect for my bump and none of that tight, almost dry itching feeling that I have had with some other body oils. I have been religiously applying the oil daily and I absolutely love it – I’m a convert!”
