What they say: Ramion is a magical place where anything can happen and frequently does. In this collection of enchanting fantasy stories, three young boys travel the realm of Ramion on incredible adventures with their cat Snuggle, escaping from their insidious foes, the witch Griselda who longs to eat them and the Princess of the Night, a keen collector of real human sculptures. Four uniquely wacky stories, Tales of Ramion are great reads for children and are particularly well loved by young boys thanks to the author’s cheeky storytelling and mischievous humour.
What we say: “I read Tales of Ramion: Frankie and the Dancing Furies with my 7 year old son after my 10 year old daughter thought it was a little too young for her.
It tells the magical story of three brothers whose father gets caught in a spell by the witch Griselda and find themselves in the land of the Dancing Furies. It then takes a surreal turn with the father’s body possessed by Jimi Hendrix!
When I first read started reading this with my son I thought it was a little strange and that maybe he wouldn’t understand or enjoy the story but he loved it! The story was exciting and funny and you never knew what was going to happen next. It was very engaging and just the right length (6 chapters over 76 pages) to keep his interest. The illustrations on each page were colourful and intriguing and we paused over each one to look at it more carefully.
It was different to the usual stories we read but we are looking forward to reading some of the other tales in the series.”
