What they say: Good home cooked American style food all day long with a great bar and relaxed environment.
What we say: My boyfriend Richard and I went for dinner at Jackson and Rye on Monday night. We really enjoyed it and are definitely going back!
Mac and Cheese with truffle oil and crispy kale
Now, I am a huge Mac and Cheese fan and this didn’t disappoint! The crispy kale on the top was a nice twist. The Mac and Cheese was nice and cheesy, but not sickly and not too filling for a starter.
My Boyfriend had Chorizo prawns; the portion was very good with five large prawns. He was pleasantly surprised to find actual chorizo in the middle instead of chorizo flavouring or coating. Came with a very tasty dip too. He was also extremely pleased with their beer selection…
He opted for a 2 pint jug of unfiltered larger. This was very tasty for a non-mainstream beer.
I had 200g fillet steak with chips and garlic butter sauce. The steak was cooked perfectly, good flavour and cooked just how I like it! I would have liked to see a grilled tomato and maybe a mushroom with it though, however the chips were lovely!
Richard went for 300g fillet steak with garlic butter sauce and again the steak was lovely, cooked well with a really nice flavour and the chips were nice and crispy.
Sadly we had no room left for desserts although I was eyeing up the melted chocolate sundae….next time!
Very quirky and good décor. Friendly staff and a great service. Would definitely recommend and will be back!
