What they say: For an unconventional treat, Studio Kitchen has put a sparkling spin on its famous Glam Rock Afternoon Tea. Perfect for those who like to do things differently, the Winter Afternoon Tea menu features savouries such as Ham & Mustard Mini Clubs on Gingerbread; a classic Smoked Salmon and Cucumber Sandwich; and Charred Halloumi with Cured Tomato & Avocado Rainbow Sliders.

The Glam Rock Winter Afternoon Tea is available between 14:00-18:00 Monday to Sunday in Studio Kitchen.

The Studio Kitchen’s sophisticated decor, with luxe leather banquette seating and dark wood furnishings are given an extra edge as daylight fades and colourful lights bathe the restaurant in a contemporary vibe. And just when you thought things couldn’t get any cooler, you find out there’s an art exhibition going on the walls around you. The contemporary paintings have been created by one of London’s coolest artists, Rob Wass.

What we say: “Travelling from Watford, we were delighted to find that we could take a direct train straight to Shepherd’s Bush for our Glam Rock Winter Afternoon Tea at the K-West Hotel and Spa.  The hotel was only a few minutes walk away from the station and Westfield Shepherd’s Bush – the perfect location for a girls only afternoon tea!

And what a tea it was…!!!

We started with the K-West bespoke tea, the Tea Rex! An exciting blend of strong black tea leaves; mellow green tea leaves, natural cherry flavouring, peony flowers and fragrant rose petals with a dash of peppercorns for an extra twist. We both absolutely loved this – delicious!

The bottom plate was filled with savoury goodies; Mini Hotdogs, Ham & Mustard Mini Club on ginger bread, Open Smoked Salmon Classic Cucumber with cream cheese and Charred Halloumi, Cured Tomato & Avocado Rainbow Sliders.  Not too small, not to big to over-fill you before your next course, my favourite was the sliders and I think Sarah agreed too!

Now, no afternoon tea is complete without a little tipple to enjoy and we decided to try out the cocktails; well, we had the afternoon off school run duty so why not?! My ‘Yo Snow’ (Gin infused, Campari, dash Martini Rosso and Prosecco Vaporetto, topped up lemonade) went down very well! Sarah enjoyed the Blizzard (½ kiwi without peel, 3 strawberries, Abs Citron infused, MB Fraise, Kiwi Schnapps and pineapple juice).

We took our tea in the Studio Kitchen on a Friday lunchtime (tea is usually served between 2pm-6pm, but I’m sure the hotel would accommodate you if you also needed a little earlier).  The surroundings were bright and fun and our waiting staff were extremely helpful; nothing was too much trouble and we were even offered seconds!

Next we started on the top tier of warm freshly baked plain & cranberry scones with Cornish clotted cream & strawberry preserve. Oh my, scones with cranberries are the way to go – so much juicier than with sultanas…

Now for the sweet treats…

Included were Marshmallow Chocolate & Nut Sprinkles Cone, Mini Donuts coated with chocolate, Sugar Confetti Mini Éclairs, a Raspberry Hollow Lollipop and various Cocktail Macaroons…a sweet feast! All of which we devoured (all in the name of a review, of course!).

We finished with a fruit tea, freshly brewed and chosen from a vast choice.

As you can see from our photos, the tea was served in bright tablewear, the K-West really does welcome you to a world where rock and roll swagger meets urban cool!  We both thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon treat and will definitely be back again soon…”

The Glam Rock Afternoon Tea at K-West Hotel & Spa costs from £28.50 per person and all options are also available gluten-free.  Visit for more information and to book.
