What they say:  The Dobbies Little Seedlings Club is a free-to-join gardening club where youngsters aged between 4–10, learn about plants, wildlife and the environment. Our Little Seedlings Club is popular so advanced booking is required. All you have to do is call your local Dobbies directly to book your place. Bookings can only be made in-store or over the phone.

The Little Seedlings Club has more than 15,000 annual attendees and meets on the first Sunday of every month in every Dobbies Garden Centre throughout the UK (times vary per store).

What’s more, when each Little Seedling joins, we give them a free welcome pack with a special children’s lunch offer which can be used after each event. Community Champions also arrange Little Seedlings Club workshops in local schools.

Come and join all the fun with your Little Seedling.

  • Does your little seedling like to get their hands dirty?
  • Do they enjoy helping out?
  • Do they like playing in the garden?

If you answered yes to any of the above, bring them along to one of our Little Seedlings events, they’re so much fun.

What we say:  “This was the first Little Seedlings event that we have attended and I have to say I was very impressed!  I visited the Milton Keynes branch of Dobbies, which is large and airy with plenty of choice of plants, flowers and gardening equipment.

The Little Seedlings club is held in a large conservatory area, just off the main restaurant.  We were welcomed by Steven, who runs the club in the this store, and he made my nearly-five year old sons feel at ease immediately.  You must book in advance and this class had 30 children attending, most of whom visit regularly, ranging in age from 4 to around 10 years old.

The club started with ‘floor time’ where the children sat and listened as Steven told them all about the topic this session; trees.  He made the time enjoyable, with plenty of knowledge being fed to them without being too ‘school-like’.  There were questions and answers, a short picture quiz and then on to the fun stuff; making and decorating tree pictures!

Tissue paper, colouring pens, equipment at the ready – the children were off!  Parents are encouraged to join in and help their children (while sipping a cappuccino!) and all of the children put their full effort into their task!

Once complete, the children all returned together and age by age held their pictures up to show the whole room – my boys faces were filled with delight when all the parents in the room clapped at their pictures!

This is a lovely, family time session – free of charge.  During the different seasons the activities range from arts and crafts, to tasting sessions through to planting seedlings.  Certificates and gifts are given for the more sessions that you attend…

Steven engaged with all the children and my two have asked to go back again next month. For a free weather proof activity I cannot recommend this highly enough – take a look at your nearest Dobbies and give it a go…

…And while you are there, check out the instore cafe/restaurant – A-maz-ing cakes…need I say more?!?!”
