What they say: Luigi Ugo arrived in London from Italy in 1921 and set up his own shop supplying pasta to curious consumers who were just getting a taste for continental food. He was the first to introduce potato gnocchi to the UK in 1932 and then in 1967 his company were the first to supply organic and whole wheat pasta to the country.

The Dell’Ugo range of ravioli is what the company is now probably best known for.  The pasta is sublime and the fillings are creative, tasty and fit for the most discerning table and palate.

All the ingredients of Dell’Ugo pasta are of the highest standard. The Altamura semolina, used to make the pasta, is regarded as the best in the world and the Free Range eggs come from Dell’Ugo’s own flock of chickens. Together with a bit of water, that is all that is in the pasta….nothing else, just flour, eggs and water. Perfect.

And then there are the fillings….

The products in the premium range are sublime. Wild Mushroom & Truffle, Crab & Crayfish, or Roasted Pumpkin and Chorizo….ideal to serve to guests to whet the tastebuds at any dinner party. Or what about something different, such as Goats’ Cheese and Beetroot for a romantic dinner à deux?

What we say:  Emma “We tried the Crab & Crayfish and also Wild Mushroom & Truffle Ravioli.  Both cooked really quickly and were delicious but we preferred the Crab & Crayfish – the pasta was nice and firm and held together when drained.  It smelled and tasted amazing! And the ravioli was large – so you really had plenty of filling.”

Lucy “My husband and I really enjoyed both the Goats Cheese and Beetroot Pasta and the Wild Mushroom Pasta.  Both pastas were full of flavour, easy to cook and really filling. My husband is a very fussy eater and he said that he would definitely eat both types of pasta again.  My only request is please can you stock in Tesco’s…?”

Kelly “I took home the Goats Cheese and Beetroot pasta and I have to say, this is the best filled pasta I have ever had at home – the flavour was lovely!  I overcooked the pasta ever-so-slightly, but the filling didn’t leak.  I will definitely be adding this to my shopping list.”

Dell’Ugo pasta is available from Waitrose, Costco and Ocado online.  For more information visit
