What they say: Meet Audrey. She wants to be an inventor, but her inventions are not entirely successful: the egg collectors and jam dispenser are a bit messy, and her faithful pet, Happy Cat, is still recovering from the mishap with the cat washer! It’s enough for Audrey to lose heart and give up altogether, but with some encouraging words she gives inventing one last try. This fun and quirky picture book featuring a feisty and inspiring female protagonist with an inventive mind and curious spirit, is an inspirational story about following your dreams, caring for those you love and persevering to achieve your goals. Hilarious, heartfelt and utterly bonkers, Audrey the Inventor is a new heroine with plenty to say and do!

What we say: “This is such a delightful book! From cover to cover the illustrations are just wonderful and engaging.

The story is about Audrey, an ambitious young lady, her cat aptly named ‘Happy Cat’ and her dad.  Audrey is an aspiring inventor but what she doesn’t realise is that not every invention will work out or be perfect on the first try. She almost gives up on her dream, but then her father gives her some sound advice and she decides to give it another go…

Audrey’s dad says just the right things and it was a nice change for the story to focus on dad rather than mum.

My daughter, nearly 5, and my son 8 both enjoyed this book. We’ve read it on multiple occasions now and I see it becoming a firm favourite.

We found the illustrations to be full of quirky details and offered lots to ponder when reading out loud. My daughter loves the illustrations of happy cats expressions as he patiently puts up with Audrey’s experiments.”
