Who went: Amanda, John, Bethany (4) and baby Jess.
When: Wednesday 27 August – during the school summer holidays!
Why: Bethany wanted to go to CBeebies land, so we tied it in with a few days away in the Peak District
Entrance: We had a disaster getting in, there was so much traffic trying to get in so we queued and queued in the car for 3 hours when our hotel was only about 45 mins away! We eventually got parked in a field and had to push the buggy through long grass to get across a road, through a car park and to the park entrance! We have Merlin Passes so got into the park easily.
CBeebies land: I have to say I was a little disappointed! If you have been to Alton towers in the past, the old squirrel ride is now CBeebies Bugs but the ride is the same. The old tractor ride is now Postman Pat Vans and the old kids ball park where you fire soft balls is now Justin’s House. But they are all the same actual rides! There are lots more shows and the arena where the shows are is great though.
Queues: The queues were the worst I have ever seen, one girl we spoke to queued for 2 hours for The Smiler roller coaster. When we first went into CBeebies the queue for In The Night Garden was 70 mins and 60 mins for CBeebies Bug ride! 60 mins for Runaway Train and 75 for the log flume. We walked round the park went in a couple of things but not much!
Lunch: There was quite a large selection but everywhere was busy so we got a chicken wrap and Bethany had a jacket potato and we sat on a rock near the canyon water ride.
Staff: as disappointing as our trip was I can not fault all the staff who were trying to keep things moving, who were really friendly and chatted to people and trying to be as helpful as possible. The park stayed open later than it was supposed to also.
So would I go again: well I love the roller coasters and this trip was all about Bethany so we didn’t get anywhere near one! I would go back but not on a sunny day in the school holidays!
