What they say: The nation’s favourite reading scheme now available in digital form – Created in association with Oxford University Press and starring the much loved characters from Oxford Reading Tree, the ‘Read with Biff, Chip & Kipper’ range of apps features six levels of reading and phonics books, complementing the learning children are undertaking at school and giving parents the opportunity to support their child’s reading at home.
There are a total of 48 books across six levels, with each level containing four reading books and four phonics books. The digital books are true to the traditional books from the range and give children the opportunity to learn to read in a thoroughly modern way.
– Read with your child or listen as they read to you
– Auto Play feature allows children to enjoy listening to the whole book being read to them
– Hints and tips in each book for you to use with your child when reading and talking about the story
– Each book features a list of common words used within
– Puzzles and activities – each book encourages your child to have fun looking for details throughout the story as well as finishing off with an enjoyable game
‘Read with Biff, Chip & Kipper: Library’ is currently available as a free app, offering two free books from level 1 when you download the library. In addition, customers can, at present, download the whole of level 1 free of charge and for a short time, purchase the whole of level 2 for a discounted price of just £1.49 (full price £19.99).
What we say: “My children are probably still a little young to fully understand this app but that that does not mean that they have not enjoyed reading along with them and playing the games! The images are simple and easy for young children to understand and follow and when turning on the Auto Play, the voice is clear and gives them time to follow what is being said along with also having time to look at the page.
We sat and read through the books for a good hour, answering the questions together and talking about the story.
I will definitely continue to look at these books on the app with my children and as they progress through school I think they will be a big help and learning tool to use at home. Even if your children are a little young for this app, I would recommend downloading it anyway, it can’t help to start their learning early!”
