Profile of a Working Mum: Becky Hulme, Creator of Mums Meal Planner

Name: Becky Hulme

Becky mums meal planner

Age: 36

Number of children: 2

Job title: Creator of Mums Meal Planner

Duties: The business is very new so everything is down to me! Marketing, sales, accounts, brew maker!

Hours: As many as possible when I can fit them in.

Childcare arrangements: 3 days a week spread between Nana, Grandma & nursery (thank god for grandparents!).

What I love about work: It’s nice to have time being me & people wanting me for my skills that don’t involve nappy changing, teddy bear voices & so on!

What I find difficult is: Hectic mornings & just the task of actually getting to work.

My working life would be easier if… I could clone myself for a few days a week! Not sure my husband would agree though!

Work/mum life balance: I work 3 days a week at the moment in my ‘day job’ and, for me, this is a good balance. I get time at work to be me & plenty of time at home with my kids. Needless to say as soon as I get to work, I want to be at home. And on my days off, by 8am I want to be at work!

How having children has changed the work I do: I used to work full time hours (+ some!) in my day job. I loved it – I helped a company to grow, travelled, met lots of new people & learnt a lot. When the kids came along, my career, travel & working all the hours possible were longer top priority. I tried, but when I cried on the plane to & from a meeting, I decided enough was enough. The idea for Mums Meal Planner came when I was feeding baby No 2 at 3am!! So you could say children have had a profound effect on the work I do.

Fantasy job / If I wasn’t doing this, I’d be… England Netball player/coach! I love netball & have played since school.  Unfortunately I never received ‘the call’ to play for Queen & Country!

Mojomums helps mums get their mojo back – what advice would you give to mums who feel they have lost theirs?  Have one thing in your life that is yours. Even if it’s just going to the gym or for a walk or swim once a week.  Take that ‘you’ time & enjoy it without feeling guilty!

Anything else? Many years ago, my friend & I had a decision to make & decided – ‘It’s better to do something & regret it, than regret not doing it’. This gave me the inspiration & courage to give Mums Meal Planner a go. Otherwise I’d always be wondering ‘what if’…..
