Kate Ball, Director & Founder of Mini First Aid Ltd

Name: Kate Ball

Age: 38

Number of children: 4

Job title: Director & Founder of Mini First Aid Ltd

Duties: Oversee the full operation of the business, and the development of our brand.

Hours: Officially 3 days per week 9am-3pm (school hours) unofficially, some evening and weekends.

Childcare arrangements: A nanny during official working hours.

What I love about work: Mini First Aid is my baby which I created and have grown with the team to the national business it is today – work is balanced with family life, is exciting and I get to  work with many inspirational people, many of whom are also Mums.

What I find difficult is: Switching off.  I am always coming up with ideas in the middle of the night.

My working life would be easier if… Nobody got poorly – bugs in our family catch us at the most annoying times for the business!

Work/mum life balance: Our family and the families of the team of franchisee’s are central to our business, they come first.  I can be in a meeting in the morning and at the school nativity in the afternoon – its a massive juggling act but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

How having children has changed the work I do: I have moved from working in Corporate Learning and Development to running a business for families and run by families.

Fantasy job / If I wasn’t doing this, I’d be… Reviewing luxury hotels in the Caribbean!

Mojomums helps mums get their mojo back – what advice would you give to mums who feel they have lost theirs? Join a network of mums which you feel comfortable in, one that offers your the opportunity to grow and develop, is not competitive, is supportive and gives you ideas bring back the MOJO!

Anything else? Be cautious of social media portraying Mums in a perfect light.  Everyone’s children have tantrums, everyone has a hard day at work and every drops a ball they are juggling at some point – even if their social media profile shows differently.
