“Oh wow!” This was my first thought when I found this amazing hotel…”I want to stay here!”
Kakslauttanen Hotel & Igloo Village has 40 first-class log cabins that come in different sizes, accommodating from 2 – 10 people but it is their amazing Glass Igloo that provides a one of a kind opportunity to admire the northern lights & millions of stars of the crystal clear sky in Finnish Lapland.
Built from a special thermal glass, the temperature inside the igloo always stays a normal level. It also prevents the glass from not getting white frosted, hence keeping the view clear even when the temperature outside drops to under -30°C.
Or for those brave enough to try, built entirely out of snow, a Snow Igloo is the perfect setting for an unforgettable experience!
There are a choice of restaurants available at Kakslauttanen; the main restaurant, the smoke sauna restaurant, the snow restaurant & the Kota restaurant where you will enjoy an unforgettable Lappish dinner & Lapp evening with Sami people. During the dinner you will hear stories about a way of life in Lapland, culture & tales about Sami life. The restaurants serve local Lappish specialities, like reindeer, different fishes & king grab from the Arctic Ocean.
Winter is time for cross-country skiing, snowboarding & mountain-skiing. Or dare you try ice swimming & walking in show shoes in deep untouched snow?! All of these activities are on offer along with many others – of course reindeer, husky & snowmobile safaris are a must, along with a visit to see Santa himself!
Igloo Village is open each year between December & January depending on the weather conditions & stays open until the end of April but hurry, this stunning resort gets booked up fast – maybe I will see you there next year!?!
