Name: Jennifer Irvine
Number of children: 4
Duties: Giving inspiration and direction to my brands and children.
Hours: 24/7 but I go in to our London office about twice a week for the day.
Childcare arrangements: I have a housekeeper, this allows me to concentrate on the children more. They go to schools which have excellent after school clubs onsite, so term time can be smooth. I often take the girls with me to the office in the holidays and yes – they work!
What I love about work: Obviously the food! I started The Pure Package in my kitchen at home and the business has now grown into a series of different brands with a long list of loyal clients. Helping my clients reach their fitness/weight/health goals through my love of delicious and fresh food is what its all about.
What I find difficult is: The unexpected and undeserved guilt which comes with the natural desire to be the perfect mother. All we can do is our best and we never know if that’s too much or too little.
My working life would be easier if… there were more hours in the day and days in the week, if no one was ever ill and the weather was always perfect.
Work/mum life balance: Is close to perfect, I am lucky enough to have a wonderful housekeeper so when I’m at home I can focus on spending time with the girls. As mentioned, the girls love coming in to the office with me and helping which is a major plus as it means doubling up work with quality time. This Mother’s Day they are going to help me with planting the vegetable garden, this is fun for all and means that come Spring/Summer I will have wonderful fresh ingredients to conjure up new recipes for both work and home with. There are always fun things like this for us to do together which in turn makes my life a lot easier!
How having children has changed the work I do: Having children has completely changed the work I do as naturally, I put them first. They inspire me to make the most out of the quiet time I do get on my own to work and to always be present.
Fantasy job / If I wasn’t doing this, I’d be… testing and reviewing delicious restaurants and resorts globally. I love exploring the world and trying new things, I draw a lot of my recipe inspiration from my various travels and am fascinated by different cuisines.
Mojomums helps mums get their mojo back – what advice would you give to mums who feel they have lost theirs? I would say, your family will only be happy if you are so think about what makes you happy, make it happen and everyone will benefit.
Anything else? I have so much more I could say but I think it is always important to remember that life is a journey not just a destination, enjoy it as it happens.
