Hot Topic: Diets - Sally

Mojomums founder Sally has tried most diets on the market – as well as some concoctions of her own…

Name: Sally Overhead

Age: 35

Weight now: You never ask a lady her weight!!

Height: 5’5

Dress size: 12

What is your opinion on diets?

Diets are definitely part of my daily life, I only have to look at food and I put on weight! I have tried every diet known to man and some of my own, I have taken pills and I have been on a boot camp! I have never been above a large 14 as this seems to be my cut off point, but at the same time since being over 25 I have never been below a small 12.

What is your relationship with food like?

I am happy as a 12, but it’s hard work staying here and although I know that eating healthy is the right thing to do, I have a very sweet tooth!

At work I can be really good, its at home that I binge!

I am not an unhappy person and being unhappy will not make me eat more or less, stress has no impact, being happy has no impact and I can safely say that I have ‘boredom binging syndrome’. If I am busy then I don’t think about eating, hence being good at work, If I am bored – at home – then I start to wander the house and think about food. I am also an ‘in for a penny in for a pound’ person and think, well I have started now, I may as well make the most of it!

What was your lightest weight? When?

My lightest weight once I was over my 20s was when I got married, I was a size 10.

When were you at your heaviest weight?

After my second child, I had a terrible addiction to digestive biscuits and would eat them three sittings a day! I ballooned and think I was secretly a size 16 though I just bought baggy style 14s!

What diets have you tried?

MOST of them! Atkins, Weightwatchers, Slimming World, Lighter Life, HCG, Fasting, Cabbage soup, Cereal…

Which have been most successful?

Atkins, Weight Watchers and Lighter Life.

Any other thoughts?

Some people don’t need to diet or have naturally healthy lifestyles / jobs. Others do need to, whether it be due to their upbringing, an unhealthy relationship with food, poor diet, illness or any other reason. I think we are too quick to judge people by the size that they are, however I don’t believe that people can be truly happy when they are greatly overweight and we all know that the health risks are huge…
