Earth Hour – Saturday 25 March 2017 8.30pm

Earth Hour originally launched in Sydney 2007, as a simple idea – switch all your electrical appliances off for just one hour to raise awareness of environmental issues.  2.2 million people did just that…

Fast forward to 2017 and hundreds of millions of people across the world, in over 178 different countries are taking part. It happens every year between 8.30 and 9.30pm, with switch offs starting in Samoa and finishing in Tahiti. It’s been growing every year, with more and more countries and people signing up – last year hit an all-time record with 162 countries taking part!

This year’s will take place at 8.30pm UK time, when landmarks across the globe will go dark…

Organiser WWF asks that for one hour, focus on your commitment to our planet for the rest of this year. To celebrate why not have a candle lit dinner, stargaze, go camping, play board games, see friends – the possibilities are endless!

Mojomums are going to join in this worthy cause, are you?  What will you be doing during your hour?  We’d love to know, comment below…
