CJ Bowry – founder of www.salsshoes.com

Name:  CJ Bowry

CJ sals shoes

Age:  35

Number of children:  2 step, 2 bio.

Job title:  Founder at www.salsshoes.com collecting children’s outgrown shoes and finding them new feet.

Duties: Running a charity and overseeing the logistics involved (from my iphone – whilst working part-time, overseeing 4 kids at various times, running a household and walking Otis my trusty Beagle).

Hours: 24/7 as and when – I’m so fortunate to be in this position.

Childcare arrangements: school, nursery, helpful friends, an obliging husband and a part-time nanny.

What I love about work: I love the challenge of now operating something I never really set out to establish.

What I find difficult is: Operating as a small charity where the only real obstacle to what we can achieve is financial.

My working life would be easier if…I had more hours in the day, every day.

Work/mum life balance: I have the delight of waking up with my kids and more often than not tucking them into bed each night.

How having children has changed the work I do: Sal’s Shoes was founded because I became a mum and couldn’t find an organisation that made me want to pass on my kids outgrown shoes to.

Fantasy job / If I wasn’t doing this, I’d be… I’m really privileged to be doing something I feel passionate about, surrounded by lots of people who want to help . . . I spent my twenties working my way through a succession of different jobs and now seem to have landed on my feet utilizing all the skills I spent a decade gaining.

Mojomums helps mums get their mojo back – what advice would you give to mums who feel they have lost theirs? You haven’t, life’s short, it is what it is when it is and you’ll always be sprinkling a bit of magic over someone somewhere even if you’re not aware of it at the time.

Hi, I’ve just read an article about Sals shoes
in a magazine, you are so inspiring!
    I have 3 children aged 11, 8 and 2, so
wanted to know if there was an upper age
limit for the shoes? Also do you take adults
    shoes? Xx
