Find your feet on the ice with Skate School & give children their first glide on the ice at Somerset House. Somerset House Skate School sets the standard for people of all ages & abilities to learn how to build confidence or improve their technique. Children can join the Polar Cub Club which provides a safe environment to take their first tentative steps on the ice at the training rink. The Penguin stabilizers give young children the support to encourage good skating posture & practice, plus create lots of fun!
Experience an exhilarating skate under the stars with friends & family at the stunning Winchester Cathedral. For 5 weeks over the Christmas period the Cathedral is transformed by a Christmas Market & open-air real ice rink. The real ice rink can be enjoyed by people of all ages & abilities as there is a team of trained ice stewards who ensure that the rink is safe & well maintained. Ice skating sessions last for 1 hour – this includes time to fit your skates which are included in the ticket price.
Even toddlers can have a go at ice staing at the Eden Project! The special ice-play sessions for kids aged between 18 months – 5 years, with plenty of toys to play with, last 40 minutes, so little one’s won’t get too cold. For older children (& adults too!) penguin aids are ideal for helping skaters to gain confidence on the ice. I
