If like me, you are one of the many parents that have visited a Build-A-Bear workshop recently, you may have taken up the opportunity to “Share Your Heart” by making a donation to help Make-A-Wish ® UK, the charity that grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions.
From now until 31st March, guests in Build-A-Bear stores across the UK may make a donation at checkout as well as have the opportunity to purchase a satin heart to benefit Make-A-Wish. Satin hearts will be sold for £1 and one hundred percent of the donations and funds from satin hearts collected will benefit Make-A-Wish.
Emma James, Head of Corporate at Make-A-Wish said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Build-A-Bear through their ‘Share Your Heart’ campaign. The donations raised from the sale of hearts will help to grant magical wishes for children with life-threatening conditions. A wish is a lasting memory not just for the child or young person fighting a life-threatening condition, but for their parents and siblings too; it can provide some much needed respite or simply give them some precious time together as a family.”
Make-A-Wish UK grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions. There are currently 20,000 children and young people in the UK fighting a
life-threatening condition. In 2015 Make-A-Wish would like to grant 1,000 wishes and need to raise £7.5 million in order to achieve this. Make-A-Wish receives no government funding – so every donation really does count.
