“There’s a new vet at Talyton St George’s large animal practice, and he’s causing more than one heart to flutter. A wonderful warm and romantic Christmas tale …
Reviewer Karen Kennan
Set in a rural idyl, the story focuses on the budding relationship between Dr Nicci and vet Matt. Having met at Nicci’s surgery, there’s an instant attraction between the two. Away from the GP’s surgery, Nicci spends most of her time with her horse and adores eventing but Matt hates it, and after a serious accident, tries to get Nicci to give it up. Can such a fundamental part of someone’s personality be changed?
Matt’s jealous ex frequently tries to throw a spanner in the works, causing trouble between the couple wherever she can. The story of their on/off relationship is intertwined with the loves and lives of her close family, and of the close knit community.
I picked up this book when I was ill recently and I must say, I enjoyed it more than I expected to. It’s an easy read, very uncomplicated and one that can be drifted through nicely. I liked the characters and enjoyed reading about the patients in Nicci’s surgery as well as about the major characters. The name initially didn’t appeal to me very much (and was a little misleading as there is only one vet!), and having read that it was about horses, I didn’t hold put much hope for it, really but they didn’t take over the story at any point. I’d never heard of the author before so looked her up and apparently, this book is one of a series but reads well as a stand alone too. It is quite predictable but light, fluffy, yummy and ideal for cosying up on the sofa with a hot chocolate on these cold winter days.
