Winter wardrobes – by Hayley, Personal Stylist

Summer’s almost over and life has more or less returned to normal. The kids are back at school, your holiday feels like a lifetime ago and you realise you have nothing to wear for the long winter that’s upon us.

I already have a wish list that goes on for eternity, so let’s start with outer wear.

Shearling and teddy bear fabrics are the way forward this winter. An oversized shearling coat would look fabulous with your berry turtle neck or ladylike blouse. You’ll be well prepared for the cold and will still look totally on trend.

Boots. For comfort, go for a Chelsea boot or if you fancy the man look, try a brogue; smart, comfortable and fashion forward. High ankle boots are also a must this season, check out Celine for pony skin one-offs. A beautiful classic Chelsea boot that’s just hit the high street can be found at Claudie Perlot. For an alternative, try an over the knee boot by Stuart Weitzman, I’m obsessed with this look. If you’re after a more comfortable shoe, opt for a tennis sneaker, I love Senso or Isabel Marant for this uber cool, sleek look. Team with long culottes from Cos for city chic.

Snake skin is very in, so go for a clutch or a boot to work this into your wardrobe. River Island have a fab pair of faux snakeskin boots.

Would you believe waistcoats are back! Throw one on over your polo neck for added warmth and interest.

Whether you’re tall or short opt for a mini skirt, for a sexy, cute look. Wear with opaque tights for cooler days.
