Where have the last five weeks gone…???
Am I the only one thinking this? Where have the last five weeks of the school holidays gone?!
This year we chose not to take an actual holiday over the summer (a new bathroom is being planned and a holiday to Orlando booked for early next year = lack of funds for any type of getaway this summer!) and instead chose to have a stay-cation…
We have been busy most days and as the weather has (mostly) been kind to us I’ve found it fairly easy to get out and about with the boys without it costing an arm and a leg! I am lucky that at 5 years old, my twin sons are just as happy in a park, kicking a football as they are at the likes of Legoland or a theme park!
Having said that, we are planning a visit to Legoland next week using our Pre-School Annual Pass…!
I have to admit to being a huge fan of an annual pass! We also have the ZSL passes and have been twice this holiday – such great value for your favourite local attractions. We find that our days are not spent worrying about which ride you may not get on or which animals you may not get time to see, as we can see those next time. Hassle free days out – perfect!
Along with the obligatory park play dates, we have been to the cinema, a couple of children’s theatre shows, a local lido (that I have never visited before and can’t believe I have missed for all of these years!), visits to family who live by the coast, Knebworth House and Gardens (go, it’s got an amazing kids play area and even has dinosaurs!), the local garden centre, walks through the woods, my younger sisters wedding, discovered an amazing small farm only open a few days a year to the public in our hometown (Cassiobury Farm)…phew! No wonder it seems as if the time has flown by, we have been busy!
We have been keeping an Instagram diary of one photo a day and we are going to make a scrapbook of all of our adventures once the holiday has finished.
Now the boys are looking forward to heading back to school and seeing all of their friends and I have to admit that much as I have loved the long holidays, I am looking forward to getting back to our daily routine…
…although I am sure I will change my mind about this on the first morning of the new term, when the alarm goes off and the morning rush begins!
Enjoy your last week of holidays everyone and if you have visited anywhere new this summer we would love to hear from you!
