Blog:

Looking forward to Royal Ascot

As early as January I have a surge of excitement as I know it’s time to start planning my annual trip to Royal Ascot!  I have been attending Royal Ascot since I was 18 and it’s one of my favourite days of the year.  As a working mum of two lovely children, it’s difficult to have a bit of me time and a trip to Ascot gives me the opportunity to have a lovely day out with friends and the opportunity to dress up!

We usually have a group of around 10 ladies who meet early in the morning for a champagne breakfast before making the minibus trip to Ascot.  On arrival we have a lovely picnic in the car park before heading into the racecourse.

One of the most important parts of the day for me is watching the Royal procession where the Queen and members of the Royal family attend every day.

The rest of the day is spent enjoying the horseracing, spending quality time with friends and having a drink or two!  Royal Ascot also gives me the opportunity to be me again.

I honestly think that Royal Ascot has something for everyone; racing, the Royal family, fashion, food and drink and a good old sing song at the end of the day.

This year I will be attending with 7 friends and will be reporting throughout our trip on Wednesday 21st June.

Royal Ascot has three enclosures to suit all price ranges and the Village Enclosure is new for 2017,  which sits between the Queen Anne Enclosure and Windsor Enclosure in terms of price point however the Queen Anne Enclosure dress code will apply. Its introduction will allow Ascot to reduce capacity in the existing public enclosures, Queen Anne Enclosure and Windsor Enclosure as part of its continued commitment to customer comfort at the Royal Meeting.

A picturesque bandstand is the centrepiece of the Village Green, along with two other stages where there will be a mix of live brass, jazz and funk throughout the day. In the evenings, the main stage will host sets from live bands and DJs. Confirmed acts include DJ Goldilocks, the Hackney Colliery Band and Choon Chaps. From on-the-go stalls to sit-down casual dining, there will be a broad food offering.

The Village Enclosure is open on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday of Royal Ascot, with an exclusive after party until 9pm.
