Introducing Guest Blogger Sarah

My name’s Sarah and I blog at Digital Motherhood.

I’m a 30-something mum, living on the South Coast with my husband and our 4 year old daughter (known on my blog as “Little H”). By day I work in website management for a Bournemouth property company while Little H is at school, and during the evenings I do freelance social media management and of course blog.

I blog about parenting a young child who’s recently started school, and the stresses of trying to balance work and family life.

Until I became pregnant I worked full time. I went on maternity leave for 9 months and returned to work 2 days a week when Little H was 8 months old. As she got older I gradually increased my hours until I was doing 4 full days a week.

Then she started school last September and that kind of ruins any plans you have! I had to arrange new hours so that now I work 5 half days to be around to do the school run. I’m very lucky to work for a company that has accommodated my requests, but finding time to attend last minute assemblies, and be around in the numerous school holidays is difficult.

That’s why I started freelancing & blogging in my ‘spare time’ – my aim is to be able to focus purely on freelance work by this time next year. Whether that will actually happen or not is another story!

Having juggled work and a family for the last 4 years, I have a few tales to tell and hopefully some useful advice to give to other working mums, or mums who are thinking about returning to work.

The aim of my blog is to share stories of my busy life, and blog about tips and advice I’ve learnt along the way. I want to help other busy mums and show mums wanting to both work and raise a family that it can be done and they’re not the only ones going through the stress of trying to “have it all”.

Being so busy during the week means that we all look forward to our weekends off together as a family, and we try to get out and about as much as possible. I also blog about our days out, partly to give an insight into our life when we’re not all rushing around, and partly to give my readers some ideas of places to go and things to do with their kids.
