Armelle Molinier, Owner of luxury all-inclusive holiday Les Clos des Coustoulins

Name: Armelle Molinier

Armelle Molinier

Age: 46

Number of children: 3

Job title: Owner of luxury all-inclusive holiday Les Clos des Coustoulins ( I sold my audit and accounting business two years ago to start up this holiday business.

Duties: During the winter months I work on Marketing Communications and PR and in the summer I run the holiday business full time with my husband, mainly doing the cooking and ensuring the well-being of the guests while my husband’s focus is on the sports and activities.

Hours: When it is not peak season, I spend two days a week working on my holiday business and work part time doing audits. During the peak season I work at the Clos des Coustoulins full-time for the whole three months.

Childcare arrangements: My children are all quite grown up now and love getting involved with the business too. My daughters help me with the PR and with looking after the guests – at the moment we’re really enjoying testing out all the new recipes for the upcoming season together! My son is a mini ‘sports coach’ accompanying my husband and the guests on biking trips and runs. Before we started up the Clos des Coustoulins, I worked in an audit and accounting company for 4 days a week and I took Wednesdays off to look after my children.

What I love about work: My favourite part of my job is meeting so many different people and exchanging thoughts and opinions with them. I especially love helping families discover the region we live in.

What I find difficult is: The long hours during the high season can be quite exhausting!

My working life would be easier if… I spoke better English as we’d love to share our region and culture with as many English families as possible! I’m working on it everyday. But otherwise I’m extremely happy with my working life and glad I was fortunate enough to be able to change jobs to do something I really love.

Work/mum life balance: I believe that it is very important to do a job which makes us happy, as it enriches not only our own lives but also those of our children. Creating a good work/mum balance is all about time management, making sure you spend plenty of time with your children. I think family holidays are crucial, which was the main inspiration for the Clos des Coustoulins. We want to help bring families together – especially those with working parents – so we take care of everyday worries, such as making sure parents can fully enjoy our bike rides by bringing along a car to drive the children home whenever they are tired and parents want to carry on. We also have complimentary babysitting and many activities to entertain children while parents enjoy some peace and quiet! Our main emphasis is on simply enjoying life as a family. As for myself, I find sport is one of the best ways to destress and is key in staying calm when around my children! I am fortunate to live in a beautiful part of the world and have such amazing views on my runs.

How having children has changed the work I do: The Clos des Coustoulins is at its heart a family project, which we started doing a year ago so that we could merge our professional and private lives. It has allowed our family to spend the whole summer together and for me to spend more time with my children throughout the rest of the year.

Fantasy job / If I wasn’t doing this, I’d be… This is my dream job! Both my husband and I have worked hard in our lives to get where we are, we have each sold our companies and can now focus solely on our holiday business.

Mojomums helps mums get their mojo back – what advice would you give to mums who feel they have lost theirs? I have always worked despite having three children because I think that if a mum needs the drive of a job to make her happy, then she will in turn make her children happy! For me it has always been about the quality of time I spend with my children rather than being with them 24/7.
