Name: Annabel Anderson
Number of children: Two (aged five and seven)
Job title: Owner of Tuck n’ Snug
Duties: Everything involved with launching a new business
Hours: Until the work is done
Childcare arrangements: School and some after-school clubs
What I love about work: The excitement of creating and building a business. We have just launched and getting a positive reaction to both the product and what we’re doing is very encouraging.
What I find difficult is: The boring stuff that accountants need.
My working life would be easier if… I had kept up with technology. I had a career break to raise the kids and getting to grips with new forms of communications and software packages has been a challenge.
Work/mum life balance: We muddle through like any other working family. The kids are excited about seeing Tuck n’ Snug grow and they love to be involved, where they can.
How having children has changed the work I do: Completely. Before having children, I was in corporate PR – a world away from what I do now. When I started my family, I had no idea I would end up starting my own business! Tuck n’ Snug was born out of the necessity of having a good night’s sleep. I was exhausted because my children kept waking and calling out for Mummy because their duvet and pillow had fallen off the bed and they were cold. Tuck n’ Snug is a simple fix for this common problem of sleepless nights.
Fantasy job / If I wasn’t doing this, I’d be… A secret agent. Oops, perhaps I shouldn’t have told you that!
Mojomums helps mums get their mojo back – what advice would you give to mums who feel they have lost theirs? Start running. It clears your head and makes you feel better about yourself.
Anything else? Sleep deprivation is a big issue. Getting restful nights back really improved my wellbeing and if we can help other families achieve the same, then we’re happy.
